Safety of Injectable Toradol

As most of you know who read what I'm writing lately the answer to my lumbar and particularly cervical spasms is injectable Toradol. I think I'm injecting twice a month now on an average.

I've asked the physicians I see, OSS, GP/IM, and PM what is safe with regard to injecting this medication and it seems that this frequency is OK.

When I've seen my physicians and I ask for a shot of Toradol they actually seem relieved that I haven't asked for anything else re pain. In fact their replies are usually quite enthusiastic "sure you can have one!"

I've only mentioned the self injecting to my PM and his reply was "hmm.." and nothing else. I've only done that twice in 2 months.

I'll continue to inquire if this is safe with my intake of other meds. It appears to date what I take seems ok with the doctors altho I'm feeling the number of meds I'm taking is growing for same problems.

Hi Maria,
If my memory serves me right, toradol was found to be related to some GI bleeding. It was used a lot in ortho surgeries and it worked great. I don't see it used that much any more. I had a injection of toradol when I fell down the stairs last year and it worked great for the broken ribs. Have you tried the PO toradol? I am thinking about asking my MD for some but am afraid he won't give it too for the GI reasons.

I've had the same reaction from my doctor with the injection of Toradol. It helps with my low back but not my neck.

I've only done it two or three times so I never researched long term effects.

I could use one now for sure :o

injectable Toradol

So far I've not read anything that would contraindicate my use of 60mg IM of this medication once or twice a month. I decided I might need an oral muscle relaxer so have been occasionaly used Skelaxin and it helps but makes me feel sort of sick and *left over* the next day.

I picked a script for Skelaxin at the pharmacy yesterday. Using my BCBS insurance I paid $45 out of pocket for a script that I was told would have cost $191 w/o insurance for 60 count/800mg. In TJ injectable Toradol was $22 for 3 30mg doses. I prefer an occasional injection if it is safe and in Urgent Care I only pay $25 for copay re visit.

I find the IM dose of 60mg of Toradol alleviates my cervical muscle spasms really well, lumbar pretty good and definately alleviates a migraine for me. Next week I'll see my PM and ask him again about safety of this drug/frequency (I don't think twice/mo is overuse) while clarifying I'm not asking him to provide it for me on this frequency, just inquiring if he considers it safe to use twice monthly as needed.
