Default pain and numbness after Mobi c

My husband started having pain and numbness in the right side of posterior neck, shoulder blade, arm, thumb, and index finger. Our neurosurgeon diagnosis a bulging C5-6 disc and started PT therapy with traction along with steroid injections. The symptoms were increasing with therapy. MD ordered another MRI and within 2 months the stenosis had worsen and surgery was the only option. He suggested the Mobi C surgery and scheduled surgery in March, 2016.

Since the surgery, the pain and numbness has increased. We have called, emailed, and seen the neurosurgeon about this problems and his response was "it can take up to 6 months for the nerves to heal", and " this is normal". Tests performed after surgery: cervical x-ray, EMG, steroid injection. The x-ray shows no migration of the components of the prosthesis. The EMG results were negative for permanent nerve damage. The steroid injection was performed on July 13th and mild relief for a couple of days. The pain and numbness has now returned and becoming worse. We have a appt for second opinion for July 28th. What should we ask? Or any advice would be appreciated.

Hi,

I'm a lumbar with 2 ADRs now having cervical issues.

I hope you husband has had some improvement since the last post.

How many discs did he have replaced?

I'm curious to know who performed the surgery (if you could e-mail me offline).

Sending pain free / no pain vibes.

Hi There Mcneely,

Thought I would circle back around to see how your husband is doing.

I hope he is getting back on his feet again.
