My back muscles have always been really tight. I think it is a reaction to pain and the way i carry myself with the pain. Now with my lumbar pain i have to keep correcting myself as i will be hunched over . What kind of doctor is testing muscles? A chiropractor? I think i had muscle strength tested in my back muscles on some type of machine at the chiropractor before my thoracic pain got too bad. good luck with what ever you try. Did you have your discography yet on thoracic spine? judy
