Costotransversectomy

My Orthopedic Surgeon recommended I see a doctor last week. This doctor said that he could help my thoracic pain. I have a ruptured disc pressing on my spinal cord at T9/10. He said he would do a costotransversectomy with a fusion and hardware.

Has anyone had any experiences with this surgery?

Shebo for my thoracic disk pain , i had a video assisted thoracic surgery. It is less invasive although i ended up with a severe loss of pulmonary function. I am sure this is a rare complication so i wouldn't worry about it .

Shebo, nice to see you again, but sorry you are still mired in spine.

t-spine is particularly difficult. Determining the pain source is difficult and the outcomes of fusions (for pain) are even more problematic than lumbar surgeries. Much progress has been made and if I were having a thoracic fusion, I would be taking a very strong look at the less invasive XLIF procedure that was pioneered by Bertagnoli and Pimenta.

I hope that your case is clear. Sadly, I've been dealing with thoracic pain for a couple of years now and my case is not clear. I have had some promising diagnostics, but they have not panned out.

Feel free to call me during business hours, California time at the number on the GPN website if you want to chat about it... no charge.

Yes, I'm still around. Like a lot of us, the pain keeps me from participating sometimes.

Thank you Mark for your offer. That is really nice. I might just take you up on it.

I have a lot of questions for the doctor and that is one of them. He is supposed to be an expert in XLIF. My guess is he hasn't done it on the thoracic.

I know your pain ~ hang in there.
