Percutaneous Discectomy

Does anyone have any experience with a Lumbar Percutaneous Discectomy ?

Surgeons?
Cost?
Experience?
Success rate?

Any input is appreciated.

It's tough finding reliable medical data in the US so here is an opinion. It's probably far better than an open procedure especially if they don't take the whole disk. Open has a high rate of infection and it does more damage.

There are even less invasive procedures for a bad disk. One is DiscoGel. A gelled alcohol is injected into the offending disk and that removes the bulge.

They also partially remove disk material with ozone.

The do these procedures in the compassionate world but not in the US.

Percutaneous Discectomy is too wide term.

Please clarify if you are interested in:

APLD - Automated Percutaneous Lumbar Discectomy
PLDD - Percutaneous Laser Disc Decompression
ELD - Endoscopic Lumbar Decompression/Discectomy

Most advanced method of percutaneous discectomy is ENDOSCOPIC DISCECTOMY (ELD). It utilizes endoscope for treating various of pathologies, but in this case disc herniation.

This technique is superior to traditional open discectomy, costs less and has many advantages.
