Hi everyone, I'm a 51 year old woman and have been having a lot of neck and scapular pain, I had an MRI but have not received the report yet even tho its been more than a month...my doctor is not the greatest, however I'll be going in next week and will press for the report. I was wondering if anything on either of these images jumps out at anyone? Thanks in advance..

Mamabear, welcome to the forum.

I don't see much to get excited about... minor bulges at C4-5 and C5-6

This type of MRI gives so much greif because they really don't show much. What we see here could be completely asymptomatic. But, that doesn't mean it's asymptomatic in YOUR case.

Good luck! Please keep us posted.

Mark

Thanks so much Mark, I have such terrible scapular pain sometimes I can hardly move! Here's another more sideish view, I was hoping for some kind of reason why this is happening  Maybe something is there that just isn't showing up ....

Mamabear,
I can't make heads or tails out of am MRI, but i feel your pain. I've had a bunch of spine surgeries and some times for things that did not appear too bad to some. But they sure hurt. I had a hip replacement which the previous MRI showed no problems. When my doc did an arthroscopic hip surgery he said both weight bearing surfaces were gone and my hip wouldn't last another 6 months.

My advice is to keep pursuing this until you get to that pain generator. With my mid back pain, i had to have a discography procedure to prove the discs were bad and causing the pain.

Jeez, I wouldn't have even known that was an MRI! How do you tell where it is abnormal?
