Gralise - Extended release Morontin (Neurontin, Gabapentin)
 

For my thoracic issues, my pain management doctor prescribed Gralise, extended release Gabapentin. I took Neurontin back in the early 2000sies for my lumbar problems. I hated the side effects (brain fog) but found the relief for the leg pain to be worth it.

I ramped up to the 600mg once a day dose... did not realize much benefit, but sure had the brain fog. Difficult tasks (like putting gas in my car) suddenly became confusing. If my current problem was helped more by the med, I might consider the side effects to be worth it. After one month, I discontinued it.

Anyone else have experience with extended release Morontin?

I have been a stranger on this site, but i am back. My pain management doc had prescribed gralise for me , but i never ended taking it. Now that i have bad leg and feet pain, i am back on gabapentin, but so far have kept it to 300mg 1-3 times a day depending on how often i remember it.

I am sorry it did not work to help your thoracic pain. I need to get an update on how that is going for you.
Maybe a time for a visit.

I took neurontin and didn't like it as well. Of all things I took extended release depacote and that seemed to work but it sort of gives you the fog as well. I was taking it for depression related to all the poop that happened when I lost my job and such.

I have a little pain relief from prozac and sort of like that. Gabapentin sounds good for some people. I am really down on side effects though. There is a more recent drug that is the sister to neurontin that is used for fibromyalgia. Heard it is cleaner. Gabapentin can cause swelling in the hands and feet/lower legs. I have some mild kidney issues already from probably taking ibuprofen for so long. I take a diuretic to help control my swelling (maxzide 75/50). Helps with my blood pressure too.

Lyrica I heard is the sister to Gabapentin and it works for a lot of people.

What kind of pain do you get? I have found that when I talk to doctors they act like all pain is the same. But, I have found that mine comes in different flavors. Sorry to be so morrose but I have just gotten that way with things.

Best pain treatment that I have found is lifestyle changes and getting in a warm pool or swimming pool and moving the parts of my body that still work. Also, meeting happy people that are somewhat enlightened. Doing things that bring fullfillment (I teach math to grade schoolers twice a week and Love it!). Staying mentally active and within your limits to fight off depression. Depression and anxiety I don't always feel make my pain worse but the doctors sure like to hang their hats on it. I think it is their easy out when they are sick of dealing with you.

Well, I think I will pick up around the house and get in the pool at the college.
