Welcome Dr. W!

Dear Friends,

Those of you who have been on the patient forums for a while may be VERY familiar with Dr. Michael Whitworth. I started frequenting Braintalk in 2000 and through the years have found Dr. W to be amazing. He supports the online patient community in a very meaningful way. If you have not seen what he does at Braintalk... I suggest you take a look. (He posts as algosdoc.)

Dr. W is a practicing pain management specialist in Columbus, Indiana. From his website:
Michael L. Whitworth, MD is a national leader in education of other physicians and affiliated practitioners. He is former course director for the SPPM national courses, is a faculty instructor and lecturer for ISIS, ASIPP, PASSOR, and is a board member of the International Spinal Intervention Society. He is the first pain management physician in the US to perform selective endoscopic discectomy and has years of experience in the this minimally invasive technique. He was the first in Indiana to perform coblation nucleoplasty, endoscopic laser scar tissue resection from the spine, laser facet neurotomy, and a large array of other techniques. With continuing activity in pain research, he remains on the cutting edge of pain therapies and the most advanced technologies for treatment and diagnosis of pain conditions. Dr. Whitworth holds board certifications from the American Board of Pain Medicine, American Board of Interventional Pain Medicine, American Board of Minimally Invasive Spine Medicine and Surgery, American Board of Anesthesiology, American Academy of Pain Management, and is a fellow of the International Institute of Pain and the International College of Surgeons.
While I don't expect him to frequent iSpine and I wouldn't ask him to dilute what he does elsewhere, I have asked him if he'll help us out once in a while and he said yes. I've known him for many years and have felt fortunate to have him as a resource. I look forward to his contributions here.

Please join me in welcoming Dr. W to iSpine.

Mark

PS. In case you are wondering what he looks like, I suspect that he's a greyer version of this (taken almost 3 years ago):

Hey Mark,
Welcome to the new doctor on board. Speaking of paim management, the doctor said that I didn't receive enough pain relief from the diognostic test for the radiofrequency so I'm not a canidate for that procedure. Also, I have not heard a responce from the insurance company for the request to have an appointment with Dr. Garcia. Go figure. I guess I need to find out if there is a time frame in which they have to respond. In addition, my cell number has change, and I still can't live at my house due to the mold, so I'll PM you with my new number.
Take care,
Cathy
