Rewriting my original post....

Beverly, welcome to the forum. Thanks for posting.

I've seen too many failed surgeries based on inadequate testing or diagnosis and the Fonar machines provide additional options... especially for some cases. I've seen them at the surgeons conferences and they've got some pretty amazing films... comparisons of normal MRI that is completely benign, with weighted MRI that shows severe problems.

Thanks again,

Mark

Fonar

Thanks, Mark, for the enlightening conversation we had this evening regarding Fonar.
I've been through years upon years of spine and leg trouble, and am now trying to find a solution to the recent worsening of my condition.
I am one of those people who finds some relief from the horrendous pain I deal with by laying down. I have never had any imaging performed while standing, which may yield the pain generator, since standing for me is much more painful than laying down.
I really do think having an image taken of my lumbar spine while "fully loaded" might shed some new light on what's going on.......that's my gut feeling. Hopefully the ADR artifact can be minimized.

God Bless,
Jeff

This is such an important topic... I'm glad that Beverly posted it.

This image is from a stand-up MRI facility...

There is such a dramatic difference between recumbant MRI and standing/extension MRI. The providers will not want to order standing MRI because the insurance companies will not want to pay for them. In many cases, it would be overkill to go to standing MRI because these anomolies are not all that common. However, in the difficult to diagnose cases, too many people go undiagnosed for years or forever, when more focused testing would have shown the problem.

Thanks again Beverly... Jeff, let me know if you are able to get this done and I hope it helps.

All the best,

Mark
