Anyone had surgery at C7-T1?

Looking to see if anyone has a problem at the level I'm currently experiencing problems with. I'm wondering is a fusion is an okay option because the level is so low in the neck as not to be that mobil. Any opinions?

I've discussed this with Bertagnoli and he has done ADR at C7-T1. However, it is not easy and not always possible. If you would consider ADR at that level, please go with someone who already knows how to do it.

A single-level cervical fusion is a good operation with good results. I'd still choose ADR over fusion if I'm a good candidate.

Wonder why it's difficult at this position? The reason my doc wants to do ADR as opposed to fusion is that I have a 2 level fusion directly above it. Is this another complication or a good reason to maintain some mobility? My doc has never steered me wrong, so I'm inclined to go with his recommendation. Let me know if you find out anything else. Thanks for the info.

That's a completely different question. You are not talking about a single level cervical fusion, you are talking about having a 3-level cervical fusion that is fused to your thoracic spine. Ask your surgeon about the potential for different loading on the level above the construct for fusion vs. ADR.

I believe that the difficulties at that level have to do with the difficulty in getting your shoulders out of the way for interoperative imaging. (There may be other reasons....I can be wrong here, but this is what I remember.)
