Hydrocision???

Anybody heard of HydroCision and hydrosurgery?

A surgeon in Seattle has been offering it. His practice may be short-lived.

Bob... I looked at hydrocision... interesting idea. A water-pik for your disc. I wonder if they floss too?

I've watched this over the years with so many surgeons offering a discectomy with a twist. Abrasion of the endplates... nucleoplasty, laser ablation, rf ablation... all kinds of uniqe twists at the end of a discectomy procedure.

My guess is that for the population that needs and will do well with a discectomy, any of them will be fine and the twist is somewhat irrelevant. There may be some unique population that will benefit from the twist, but as long as they all hawk their wares as the ultimate solution to everyone's problem... it all gets lost in the marketing glitz. We'll never know.
