Bogen - Hotel am Platzl

Hotel am Platzl Bogen is one of 3 pensions on the stadtplatz in Bogen. The rooms are nice and clean. These pensions are nothing like big American hotels. They are small, family run guest houses. The am Platzl has an attached restaurant that serves authentic German food. All rooms come with breakfast included in the price. The breakfast room is very pleasant. Breakfast is typical for a German pension; rolls, sausages, cold cuts and cheeses, cottled eggs, jams, coffee, yogurt and fruit.

It's just a 5 or 8 minute walk to the hospital from here.

my wife and father in law stayed here while i was in the bogen hospital and all though the owners didn't speak any english. they were still able to get by just fine. the rates were very easy to deal with. and its also very close to the hospital.
if remember correctly 51 euro a night for a single room with 2 double beds.
in that price they also wash your dirty attire free but the germans iron every thing and they do charge for ironing.

I'm sorry to say that Familie Hecht will be leaving the am Platzl in May. They will be moving to the Roemerhof in Straubing. We'll miss them in Bogen! I hope the new proprieters will be as friendly and cariing as are Mr. and Mrs. Hecht.

When I was here last year, I left a stack of books and Mrs. Hecht agreed to keep a shelf for them to provide a lending library for the spine patients and families. I wasn't sure how it would work out and I never got around to posting about it.

I'm glad to say that the library is still here, but all of the original books have gone! That is the way it's supposed to work... take a book if you need one... leave a book or two as you finish them.
