So glad you're involved in something that sounds like a support group or a group that is supportive!! Hang in here and do what you think is right for you as best you're able. I'm sure Dr. Coufal will be there should you want to schedule that surgery somewhere down the road. I do think he's one of the really good guys though I 100% understand holding off on surgery and wanting to check things out more!
