I have similar pain... midway between my shoulder blade and spine. It feels like I've been hit with a baseball in the big muscles of my upper back and there is a big, deep bruise there. I'm told that is common from rear-ender accidents and C5-6-7 problems.
Hopefully, it's just a bump in the road. Don't get too excited too soon.
How is your C6-7???? was it pristine or already suspect?
