OK... I spoke to Linda today... you remember her from other forums as the 50+ dynamo who learned to wakeboard with 4 ADR's.

She lives on a lake in Texas (1 hour from DFW) and may be able to host us... a few spare beds and lots of carpet for sleeping bags. Master Craft Barefoot and tons of Texas hospitality.

I don't have any idea for a venue... I'll continue to discuss options and dates. I think that late August will be good for me... let's see what our options are and who we get... This'll be fun.

our house may not be big enough to host everyone but our Tige' 21v puts out a great wakesurf wake as well as wakeboard wake. The ski wake isn't too bad either, we are only 2 minutes from the lake here.

Great pic clinton... Everyone should realize that that's a 3-level ProDisc behind the boat! Where is the rope? Can you keep up with the boat doing this??? Very cool... I can't wait to try it.

Is there a place to camp on the lake? Nearby hotel? What's it like in August there? What airport would we fly into and how far from you is it?

there is no where to camp on this lake but there are 2 hotels within 3 minutes and a dozen more with in 20 minutes. 'Americinn' 3430 Northdale Boulevard Coon Rapids, MN 55448 US is the closest. August is beautiful, typically in the 80's or 90's which is perfect on the lake. Last year I had friends in from Colorado the water temp was 85 degrees, it was like bath water. MSP is the main airport, it is about 30 to 45 minutes away depending on traffic.

Once you get good, and Michele has gotten pretty good, you can go forever with the wave of the boat just pushing you along. 99% of everyone starts by using the rope, which is a blast in itself. I even got a friend up who has never gotten up in any water sport, he's 320 lbs and he loves to wakesurf.

I just noticed that her hair isn't even hardly wet yet. I love this sport.

http://reservations.hotel-guides.us/...10227491M.html
is the link to the Americinn that I mentioned in my previous post. There is another hotel that just went up in the last 6 months or so, I don't know what the name of that one is though.

I forgot to mention also that there are a lot of restaurants around and we are open to grilling and bonfires at our home.

Clinton... I've been traveling about 80% of the time since the last posts... I'm still in. It looks like late August will work best for me. Hopefully Doreen still can make it. Long weekend sounds good. Unfortunately Diane's back has gone south... I don't think she'll be up for barefooting... we'll see.

Let's talk next week.... Mark

Doreen... you around?

I'm around, but back on the medical merry-go-round. Don't know how or why, but my spleen is turning into a big problem and might have to be removed (will this medical crap ever end? heavy sigh....)

I'll know more in the next couple of weeks...if this works itself out, I'm so on for water skiing.

Looks like I'm out of the waterski picture this summer....my spleen is okay, but I've got a tumor growing on or near my left kidney. Surgery may be in my near future. If it ain't one darn thing its another. Mark asked me the other day if I grew up living under power lines - I didn't, but I'm starting to wonder where all this is coming from....

Crap... Diane is scheduled for surgery in mid-July. It looks like I may need knee surgery (left one this time). I have a miniscus tear and should have an MRI in the days to come. Hopefully it'll be small enough to leave alone. MRI will tell if I need surgery. The knee is stable, but if I move wrong, I get a momentary 10. I'm learning to avoid the motions that cause it.

Unfortunately, it looks like planning a water-ski trip next month isn't going to work. Maybe we can do something on short notice if things improve. I look at the pictures of Michele and can't wait to go...

How late in the season does it stay warm there... best time?

Mark

early July to late August water temps 78 to 85 degrees, and air temps 70 to 100 degrees. Should be pretty good all the way through September, water temp in the mid to upper 70's, depends on how much sun we are getting at the time, air temps 60's to 90's. Perfect year to visit MN due to an early dry spell most of the mosquito's, MN state bird, are non-existant, have not seen one all summer. we are on for last minute if that works for you.

October in the water here is only for the hearty, November is for the clinically insane. As I said earlier it really depends on how much sun we are getting. should I send you some video? otherwise youtube has some good footage of wakesurfing.

Mark,

I'm sorry to hear of your cervical problems and that Diane is for certain having surgery. I had both a lateral and medial meniscus taken care of by a small incision/scope. I was amazed that I was waking with a cane two days later vs. the old days when they'd give you a scar w/a long recovery time. I find that a meniscal tear w/haunt you until it's taken care of. And oh does it ever hurt when it locks - pain of 10-plus with subsequent painful synovial swelling.

Good luck in this. - Allan
