Hey Maria,

Like you say this is not medical advice... I like Baclofen and I a on it now.

Baclofen is an antispastic agent. It essentially upregulates GABA receptors, accentuating an inhibitory effect on the central nervous system--essentially, it calms down the "excitement" in the nervous system and subsequently lessens / blocks muscle spasms.

I don't like Soma. Meprobamate is a metabolite of Soma. This metabolite can lead to withdrawals and has an addictive component to it.

I'm typing this from my phone in the hallway...I gotta run!

I hope you feel better Maria...

I appreciate your detailed reply/explanation Justin. It's been a long time since I've taken Soma and agreed to it only because I'd taken it previously tho I had forgotten I wasn't taking any pain meds way back when. I'll talk to one of my docs about a script for Baclofen.

Maria,

Like you, I've got years under my belt battling spine problems so I've had the opportunity over the years to try different muscle relaxers with mixed results. Baclofen works best for me as well and I've tried many. Flexiril is the worst "zombifacation" agent I've ever had and can't stand it. Actually, my PM was going down the list of muscle relaxers at a previous visit and I didn't realize how many of the different ones I've tried.
