Default Sprix-Toradol nasal spray

FYI:
I get some very bad flare ups with my low back pain which I think are mainly muscle spasms after many years of same/similar pattern so I've been getting an injection of Toradol 60mg IM when spasms linger and are quite limiting (also works great for my cervical spine muscle spasms).

Went to my PM on Weds and asked for a script for Sprix which is a form of Toradol that can be inhaled instead of administered IM. Comes in either a bottle with x amt.doses or 5 vials I believe. Has same potential for same side effects as oral or IM Toradol.

So if Toradol works for you and you're planning a trip or going to be doing something where you may not have time or be able to pop into your doc's office, Urgent Care, or ER for an injection you might consider asking for this form of Toradol.

I got the script tho I'm not sure WC will authorize it and not sure my regular medical insurance will cover it either. I don't know the cost should I have to pay though I will soon find out!

Maria, is there a risk for patients with such easily administered, heavy meds? With them, it's easy to forget you've taken them... especially if you are in a stupor from taking too much, or mixing with alcohol.

I'm not suggesting that I'm worried about you... this is just a general question about the strong stuff.

Default re risk

Mark,
It comes in either a bottle with X # pf doses to use by a certain time/date or in 5 individual doses which is what I asked for so that there'd be no risk of overadministration (inhalation). I told my PM that sometimes when I've used inhalation products I'm not certain I'm actually getting the dose and "might" dose myself again so I preferred the ind. doses.

Of course there's the same potential for side effects/probs as in any other form of the medicine so general ability to use has to be taken into consideration.
