Default What Does This Mean?????

I WAS TOLD TODAY THAT I HAVE SLIPPAGE OF THE L3. NO IDEA WHAT THAT MEANS..

HOW IS IT THAT I HAVE A LAMINECTOMY AT L5-S1, AS WELL AS BILATERAL FORAMINOTOMIES AT L4-L5, AND THAT IT IS MY L3??

CONFUSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Calla, that means that the vertebrae don't maintain their alignment. (Like a stack of blocks that are not one on top of the other. If it's minor, it's not too big a deal. If it's too bad, that becomes a contra-indication for ADR. In the past, that meant fusion. Now, there are many treatment options that are still less invasive than fusion.

There's that ADR word again!!! LOL!!!

NOW I know why I could have NEVER been a doctor.. How do any of you remeber all this stuff??

I am so FREAKING OVERWHELMED I can't eve n begin to try and figure whats what....

SORRY, for sounding so lack of a better word, uneducated...

So, he told me in an email that my pain source is FOR SURE from the slippage and that he was going to type up his report and send it to my family doctor, so that my Surgeon can read it????

So, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Ugh!!!! Too confusing!!

Calla,

You are overwhelmed with both new information and still a lot of unknowns. You are no different than we all were. It sounds like you need to get your head on straight and my recommendation would be to call Mark, www.globalpatientnetwork.com. He is an adr advocate but even if that's not your solution, he can point you in the right direction and recommend a few doctors with whom you can consult. He's beyond knowledgeable for a layman and I think you'd feel a lot better after talking to him. You have nothing to lose...
