    Yes, my nerve root was 'irritated' (whatever that means) during the implantation of my 3 artifical discs. It causes it's own set of problems but I'm quite functional. I think my biggest problem now is L2/3 which was herniated but not a pain generater at the time of my surgery. I think it has since become one!

    Let me again reiterate that I know you're scared but I truly believe surgery can correct this. Which surgery and which doctor is your only problem. Get yourself educated as much as you can and good luck.
