Default Annular tear flare up

I'm having a very painful annular tear flare up while on vacation in a remote and isolated island in greece. I havebeen horizontal and icing it for 48 hours. Today I can walk a little. Before I left for vacation, I received this diagnosis after an MRI. My doctor has told me to do no other exercise but walk. No cycling, no swimming, only walking and a lot of it, for a few months, then we'll start physical therapy. This flare up happened after swimming and hiking in some steep rocky area.

My question is, during this current flare up, should I walk as much as I can or stay still and horizontal until it subsides? It's never been this bad. I don't want to make it worse either way.

Thanks,

M.T.

Sorry to hear of your pain during a beautiful vacation. I hope you at least have pain medication with you. If possible i would contact my doctor. I have no idea . I definitely would only walk though.
I really hope you feel better

Default activities

I'd walk tho not too much and nothing strenuous. Even sitting too long can upset an aggravated anular tear. You might ask if they have Toradol injections 60mg as that helps to alleviate the muscle spasms that the chain reaction sets off re disc material leaking out on spinal nerve then the muscular trying to guard and be protective and so spasming. Toradol is a non steroidal antiinflammatory medication so if you don't have problems with Nsaids or kidney probs an injection shouldn't hurt and may help.

I too am sorry to read that this has happened during your vacation and this type of thing has happened to me as well being in another country while hiking and such and I basically had to rest till the acute part of the episode passed and then resume gentle walking but not more strenuous activities.

thanks everyone, walking and moving ended up being the best medicine. I was able to talk with my doctor and he told me to keep walking. I am much better today. thanks.
