Default Straubing Restaurant - Rapunzel

Recommended to me years ago for "the best salad in Straubing", that is still true today. Rapunzel is very plesant with outdoor tables and indoor dining on 2 floors. (Sitting by the windows upstairs is nice, but the sun will be VERY warm there in the afternoons.) I'll ask the owner if there is an intended theme, but I'd describe it as contemporary. This is not Bavarian, not Italian, not Asian.... just great food at reasonable prices. The staff is always more than friendly. I've eaten there dozens of times and have never been disappointed.

The emphasis here seems to be on the freshest vegetables... great, great salads... not drowned in dressing. You can stay vegetarian or get a salad with chicken, veal, shrimp, calimari.... Yesterday, I was ordering my dinner and the chef came out to make sure that I'd get exactly what I wanted. It turned out that he is Herr Weckmann, the owner. Now I understand why the quality at Rapunzel remains so high! (He will send me an English menu for me to post here.)

Experimenting with food when you are traveling is great. But, after you've been here for a while and with all the limitations and stresses surrounding surgery, many people just want something fast, fresh and exactly what they want. A very high percentage of my travel clients say something like, "I just want a nice salad with some grilled chicken!" When you here yourself say that... go find Rapunzel.
