Default 4+ years

I had my 3 level lumbar ADR more than 4 years ago from which resulted severe nerve damage to my left leg. It represents its own set of disabilites, all easier to live with than debilitating pain.

Today, for the first time since my surgery, I squatted down. Came home from errands, always bend down to pet Lucy but today, don't know why, it felt like the right thing to do, instead of getting on my knees of just bending down, I squatted, holding onto nothing and maintained it for several seconds.

This may seem like something insignificant or small but to me, this was a pretty major event. Just thought I'd share.

Happy holidays to all, Dale

Default re your 4 plus year anniversary

I love to squat so I'd surely be happy if it were the first time I'd done that in 4 years! So congrats on the progress at your 4 plus year anniversary and glad to hear that overall your pain and abilities are better. Lucy was probably happy for you too getting down there like that after all that time

Congratulations and sorry that you have such nerve damage.

I too like to squat, especially in a bank w/a long line. Everyone looks as though I"m nuts.

Get better 'n better.

Fantastic. I certainly can relate to small victories. They end up being large ones over time. Keep it up.

Glad to read it shows there can be improvements one way or another even over years! I squat alot to protect my back from too much bending. I am glad I can do it but it always lights my feet on fire.

Do feel you have had improvements with the nerve damage over the last year?

Quite honestly, after my initial ~2 year recovery, there has not been too much more in the recovery arena, in fact, a little bit of the opposite with L2/3becoming involved. I am able to withstand slightly more pressure on my thigh but it's still quite sensitive. The burning in my ankle has worsened considerably this last year.

However, and I suppose we'll never know, I started pilates a few months ago and my pm put me on a very specific vitamin regimen for nerve regeneration for about the same amount of time. I'll keep them both up though I've been sick for more than 1 month and asthma prevents me from any exertion. Hopefully, an upcoming vacation in the sun will bring me back to health and I'll resume normal activity after the first of the year.

So for you and me Fuzzy, beards notwithstanding, 2010 looks bright.

Dale

Dale,

I have some numbness from my pirifirmis surgery. I would be interested in knowing about your vitamin regimen for nerve regeneration. Thanks

Rob,

I'm taking Synergy, women's multi #5. It contains most of my pm's recommendations. When I get back from our upcoming vacation, I'll look for the list or ask my pm's office for another copy. If I forget, which is a very real possibility, please send me a pm reminder.

Have a happy one, Dale
